Three years ago, the Mainstream Media (MSM) gathered in a special conclave in Rome to discuss the disastrous election to the Papacy of Ratzinger the Enforcer, God’s Rottweiler, the hardliner, inflexible, rigid, etc. blah, blah. Some of us suggested to our television screens that the Talking Heads might want to wait more than a few seconds before doing the autopsy on the pontificate of Pope Benedict XVI. But the herd of independent minds that are the MSM had their story and they were sticking to it.
They’ve stuck to it for three years now. The poor dears really don’t have the foggiest clue how to understand Benedict. They huddle together in packs, quoting each other and loading up their computers with macros that spit out the required text without their having to fire a single neuron to write it. That’s why, when you Google the following clichés, you get these kinds of numbers:
“Benedict XVI” rigid – 52,800 “Benedict XVI” hardliner – 27,100 “Benedict XVI” inflexible – 10,300 “Benedict XVI” dominating – 290,000 “Benedict XVI” ruthless – 126,000 “Benedict XVI” enforcer – 28,800 “Benedict XVI” archaic – 22,400 “Benedict XVI” medieval – 169,000 “Benedict XVI” intolerant – 148,000 “Benedict XVI” backward – 122,000 “Benedict XVI” “Hitler Youth” – 30,700 “pope cracks down” – 1,080,000 http://www.catholicexchange.com/node/68862

Pope Embraces Reason Source: Townhall -- Read Full Story
When Pope Benedict XVI arrives in the United States later this month, be skeptical of the media coverage. Some in the American press actually want to see a knock-down-drag-out war of political ideologies between the pope and president; I think they may end up deeply disappointed. A recent op-ed piece by Michael Sean Winters, author of "Left at the Altar: How the Democrats Lost the Catholics and How the Catholics Can Save the Democrats" (Perseus, 2008), served the unintentional purpose of warning American Catholics of this media bias. Winters wrote that the pope will "show how much his worldview differs from President Bush's when he denounces the continuing U.S. occupation of Iraq before the U.N. General Assembly -- a denunciation that's expected to be especially harsh after the recent martyrdom of a Chaldean Catholic archbishop killed by insurgents in Mosul." But all it takes is a modest knowledge of Benedict's three-year papacy to know that that's probably some wishful thinking on the part of liberal Americans. GScheid,
"The poor dears really don’t have the foggiest clue how to understand Benedict."
Well, the "poor dears" just found out in this last week how dead wrong they were about our Pope, and while the Pope rests in his plane on his way back to Rome, the "know it all" idiots at MSM have egg all over their faces and their "credibility" should be zero by now. They so much wanted the Pope to apologize for the sexual scandal, I wonder if they will have the courage to apologize for their distortion of who Pope Benedict XVI is.

Looking for cliches on Google cut several ways like-
"Benedict XVI" Pastoral 735,000 "Benedict XVI" Popular 1,480,000 "Benedict XVI" Loved 1,620,000 "Benedict XVI" Gentle 156,000 "Benedict XVI" Tolerant 284,000 "Benedict XVI" Ecumenical 309,000 "Benedict XVI" Forward 742,000
Which really proves nothing. We should neither expect nor desire secular media to act as mouthpieces for the Catholic Church. It is the role of the Church to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ not the role of Fox News, the Washington Times or the Chicago Tribune.

Hi ProLife Sarah,
"No kidding! It will be interesting to see how this plays out.... will they stay with their tail between their legs or will they stand tall and apologize? I say the first and they won't even notice or believe it is so either...."
Well, we are beginning to see the results of his visit with new seminarians asking to come in. How wonderful!
