Papal visit triggers “tsunami” of New York seminary applications
Yonkers, NY, Apr 26, 2008 / 03:45 am (CNA).- St. Joseph Seminary in Yonkers, New York, has received dozens of applications following Pope Benedict’s visit, the New York Daily News reports.
"It's been like a tsunami, a good tsunami of interest," said Father Luke Sweeney, the Archdiocese of New York's vocations director. “I've been meeting people all week and have a lot of e-mails I haven't had the chance yet to respond to. It has been incredible.”

I saw this as well, but all seminaries should be seeing this? And I think they will.
But, also as the Holy Father has said it is not the numbers as it is the quality.
EWTN has some nice vignettes airing about The Call and what called these particular men and what they look for. I thought is was very interesting.
Still Great news!

We as well should be strengthened by the Holy Father's visit. We should be stepping up our game as well. Yes, I am sure this visit put a Call on many to the religious life and priesthood. We, others are called to do our part in this New Spring of the Church.

It's still WINTER in this Archdiocese but by 2011 Spring should be right in place!
I can't wait for the day that most John Paul and Benedict XVI priests replace the old guard filled with dissenters and people who have done so much damage to the Church in the last 45 years of its history.

The Holy Father says we are now in the New Pentecost/ New Spring and I believe him.

Hi GScheid,
"The Holy Father says we are now in the New Pentecost/ New Spring and I believe him."
I wish I could share his optimism but if you were to live in this Archdiocese, you would realize why I can't!
