He'll find out his fate today--hoping they dont silence him like Fr Altier

He is included in my prayers especially in the novena to the Holy Spirit to be found on the The Foundation of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Emmitsburgh

FR. GENE’S NOTE
This weekend, Fr. Jon is speaking at all our
Masses to announce his return to Religious Life with the
Missionaries of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy
Trinity. We are all very grateful to Fr. Jon for his
dedication and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and all
the ministry and service he gave us over these past four
years. To thank him, we plan to have him celebrate the
12:30 pm Mass on Sunday, June 29 and have a reception
for him after that Mass with a chance to give him our
gratitude and support. He will also be celebrating the fifth
Anniversary of his Ordination as a priest on Friday, May
23 with a 7:00 pm Mass and a reception afterwards. Please
mark your calendars and plan to join us. Fr. Jon’s last day
with us will be Monday, June 30.F

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
On Tuesday, March 25, Fr. Jon Kightlinger, our
Associate Pastor, met with Fr. Jay O’Connor, the Director
of Clergy Personnel for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and
was informed that it was the decision of Archbishop Edwin
O’Brien that his four year term as Associate Pastor here at
Our Lady of the Fields Church was going to end on June
30. He was also asked, before he would receive a new
assignment, to participate in a program of pastoral care.
I need all of you as a parish family to pray for Fr. Jon as he
discerns his future.
I also need your understanding that this
matter is between Fr. Jon and the Archbishop, and that it is
not appropriate for me to discuss or comment on this
decision.

I'd think a big difference in the tone of the pastor's note from March 25 from the aforementioned one from today. Fr Jon's and 'discerns his future' were never an issue but more likely a doctrinal issue and perhaps Church views from a pastor and his associate. I would think for the archdiocese it must be nice to be able to allow GOOD MEN (re: Goodbye Good Men) to leave the diocese, when in a priest shortage. We have been told that in the near future we will have one priest per cluster of parishes. Of course when not praying for vocations....

Sad. I just hope he stays strong and happy. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for My sake." Perhaps Fr. Jon will take strength in this.

Take Care and God Bless,
Sarah
