Any members have good news to post? Good deeds by your Priest or a Religious? Converts to be received into the Church at Easter? Deepening of faith from prayer or study? Responsible stewardship by a Catholic politician?

That's a good idea! :) The Church where I went to this weekend gave a great pro-life homily! I don't hear that very often!

And our Pastor gave an excellent, heartfelt yet easily understood homily on the Sacraments AND the Real Presence. Let's all remember to pray for our Priests.

Football player has become priest

Last week a well-known football player of Ukraine Andrei Kirlik took holy orders.

On March, 7 metropolitan of Odessa and Ismail Agafangel chanted the Divine Liturgy of prelate Johann Zlatoust in Saint-Innokenty Cathedral of the Odessa Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral. He ordained graduate of the Odessa seminary Andrei Kirlik deacon, reports Liga with reference to press service of the Odessa eparchy at the Moscow Patriarchate Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Andrei Kirlik is known as a leader and captain of Chernomorets (Odessa). He finished his career in summer 2008 when Chernomorets refused to prolong the contract with football veteran who had been playing since 2003-2003 season.

Besides Chernomorets, Andrei Kirlik had been playing in Metallist (Kharkov), Kremen (Kremenchug), Niva (Ternopol) and TSKA/Arsenal (Kyiv) at the Major league of Ukraine’s championship. He played in 331 games.
