Got this email this week from a former parish which i left for a great, traditional parish. The associate there who is one of our Good Guys has been deluged with negative comments ever since he got there and preached the correct message:
All,
The Archdiocese of Baltimore has informed Fr. Jon that he will be reassigned from Our Lady of the Fields in the very near future. He is not currently being considered for another parish as a pastor or as an associate! This is considered an unfavorable, negative disciplinary action and relates to the accusation that Fr. Jon is causing division in the parish based largely on his traditional Catholic spirituality. Basically, a vocal minority of parishioners has taken the position that Fr. Jon is too traditional a Catholic for this parish!
Pray for Fr Jon
Thanks

This was in today's bulletin (seems much written between the lines):
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: On Tuesday, March 25, Fr. Jon Kightlinger, our Associate Pastor, met with Fr. Jay O’Connor, the Director of Clergy Personnel for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and was informed that it was the decision of Archbishop Edwin O’Brien that his four year term as Associate Pastor here at Our Lady of the Fields Church was going to end on June 30. He was also asked, before he would receive a new assignment, to participate in a program of pastoral care. I need all of you as a parish family to pray for Fr. Jon as he discerns his future. I also need your understanding that this matter is between Fr. Jon and the Archbishop, and that it is not appropriate for me to discuss or comment on this decision. I know that many of our parishioners are upset by this news and will miss him and the many blessings he brought to our parish but this is a normal cycle of a priest’s life.

I hope the 'liberal' members of this Church haven't shaken any of his passion and confidence he had in it. At one time he was in the same order as Fr Corapi SOLT and his preaching would make Fr Corapi very satisfied. But his mustard seeds have been fallen on some deaf ears at this parish. I know maybe naive but I thought we were done with this junk of chasing the Good Guys away?

Someone has deemed he has 'anger issues' I guess due to his passion and fire for the Word of God. I thought we were done with this stuff--stuff spoke about in 'Goodbye Good Men?' The 'liberals' want nothing less than to crush the spirit of those trying to do right. He would like to return to his previous order: SOLT, the same order Father Corapi is in.

I will pray for him! Thanks for letting us know of the need.
Sacred Heart of Jesus be with, comfort, and guide Fr. Jon in this time of difficulty and need. Have mercy on him as he works to do Your will. Amen.

Beautiful picture of you all Gerry. You all clearly look happy and at peace. I hope that feeling remains strong throughout this struggle.
Dear Jesus, please continue to bless Fr. Jon today and always. Bring him Your peace as he fights what appears to be an uphill battle against the very liberal ideology that threatens the stability of many in Your most holy church. Keep him strong and holy, so that he may always happily say he is a servant of Our Lord. Amen.

I have been hearing more and more people leave this parish--which I left a year ago. They are leaving to find a reverent place to worship--like I found. It is sad that this 'revolt' is going on while the Pope is here trying to strengthen the Church and succeeding.

It is sad... but try to look at it from the "flip-side" point of view: at least there is a strong group of people who know their faith and are looking for quality leadership in their life journey....
