Featured Website - Roman Missal Formational Materials Published: September 22, 2008Recently the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops was granted the recognitio for the new English-language translation of significant parts of the Ordo Missae as found in the Missale Romanum, including most of those texts used in every celebration of the Mass. The changes include a return to the response "And with your spirit" in reply to the celebrants "The Lord be with you". The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has now launched a mini-website to explain and introduce the new translation.
The website produced by the USCCB's Committee on Divine Worship provides a comprehensive range of materials to be used for catechesis and preparation for the eventual implementation of the revised texts.
Among the documents posted are the letter communicating the recognition from Francis Cardinal Arinze, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments at the Vatican, and the entire text of the Ordo Missae.
The text itself is provided now for study and formation only, and will only be promulgated for use in the celebration of the Mass upon the approval of the full revised text of the Roman Missal.
Other material includes an overview of the formational materials being developed, responses to frequently asked questions, a collection of articles which explain the process of translation, tables highlighting the changes in the texts, and links to other helpful sources.
