I've been having a "discussion" on another board with a member. The original posting was something to the effect that those who support the Church cannot vote for Obama because of his stance on abortion. I personally thought that would be a no-brainer. Well, it has gotten to the point that the other poster has attacked the Church for everything from abortion, to the Churches views on war and the hypocrisy there, to the wealth of the Church, to RCC vs. Ghandi, to pediphilia by priest, to the proving of life (entering of the soul) before birth, to the newest attack on our Mother Mary and her state of grace at the conception of her Son!!!

Anyway, I don't want to wimp out and this discussion has been a good one for me. I have had to research a lot of material to support and defend my statements(which the other person really hasn't done). So it has been a great learning experience for me. Now I have been gone for the weekend and that particular thread has be relagated to back pages. I also get the feeling that NOTHING I can say will ever change this person's mind regarding abortion. So at this point should I quit beating a dead horse or resurect the creature? I could go quietly and leave this person with the last word, or I can counter his attack once again. Any feelings on my petty predicament?

You’re probably spinning your wheels. Obama has so many people mesmerized. I have the same problem with my daughters and their liberal friends. I look at it this way, if you’re not liberal when you’re young, you probably don’t have a heart. If you’re not conservative when you’re older, you probably don’t have a brain. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the wisdom you have today when you were younger?

My hope is all the young and mesmerized will be so confident about Obama’s win they’ll say “hey dude lets party” instead of voting.

I have a feeling that those mesmerised by the liberal left won't know how awful those policies are until they've lived them for a bit. I'd say a prayer for the poster and let it go.

Take Care and God Bless,

Someone one said that if you are not a socialist when young, you have no heart, and if you are not a capitalist when old, you have no brain. Nearly all kids from 13 to 25 or so have not thought out these issues, and want life to be "fair", so what Obama says resonates with their hearts. Time and maturity will temper their thoughts, and I pray this poster will gain a deeper understanding of these issues. God bless
