Please use this folder for Prayers for Holy Priests

"...The priesthood is the supreme gift, a particular calling to share in the mystery of Christ, a calling which confers on us the sublime possibility of speaking and acting in his name. Every time we offer the Eucharist, this possibility becomes a reality. We act in 'persona Christi ' when, at the moment of the consecration, we say the words: "This is my body which will be given up for you.... This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me." We do precisely this: with deep humility and profound thanks. This exalted yet simple action of our daily mission as priests opens up our humanity, so to speak, to its furthermost limits....."
Pope John Paul II, March 13, 1994

To Jesus through Mary,
"Now there stood by the Cross of Jesus, MARY, HIS MOTHER" who by Her perfect assistance at HIS FIRST MASS on Calvary became our whom we now offer the prayer that she may help us to stand more worthily by the "CROSS OF JESUS" Our Sunday Mass.

Come Holy Spirit ...Come by the means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, your well beloved Spouse.

A Prayer For Priests

Jesus Christ, the Eternal High Priest, wishing to remain always sacramentally present among his people continually calls from our midst those entrusted with the priesthood.

Grant those whom he has chosen faithfulness in their service that they bring lasting good to your Church. Help them to do what is right, that by their teaching and living we may grow in the knowledge of your love.

As our priests instruct your people, enlighten them with the wisdom of Christ the Teacher.

As they preach your Word and celebrate the sacraments, sanctify them with the holiness of Christ the High Priest.

As they face weakness, suffering and discouragement, strengthen them with the grace of Christ the Life-Giver.

As they work for peace, unity and healing in your Church, uphold them with the courage of Christ the Reconciler.

Giver of all good gifts, make us loving encouragers of our priests and faithful companions in love on their journey, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Here are a few I found in the last few days.

Loving God,

You speak to us and nourish us through the life of your church
community. In the name of Jesus, we ask you to send your Spirit to us
that men and women among us, young and old, will respond to your call
to service in the church.

We pray especially in our day for those who hear your invitation
to be a priest, deacon, sister or brother.

May those who are opening their hearts and minds to your call be
encouraged and strengthened through our enthusiasm in you service.

O most holy Saint John Vianney, you were a priest who was outstanding in pastoral zeal. May priests today be filled with that zeal, faithful to their calling, refreshed in their labors by the Holy Spirit, supported by their fellow workers and appreciated by those whose lives they touch. Dear Curé of Ars, pray for us, but especially for all priests! Amen

O Jesus, Eternal Priest;
keep all Your priests within the shelter of Your
Sacred Heart, where none may harm them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands
which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips purpled with Your Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts sealed with the
sublime marks of Your glorious priesthood.
Let Your holy love surround them and shield them
from the world's contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit,
and may the souls to whom they have ministered to
be their joy and consolation
and in Heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.

O Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us;
obtain for us many holy priests.

O Holy Spirit, Saint Charles served as a bishop in a diocese that was
plagued by superstitions and other faulty religious practices, but he
resolved the problems by issuing wise rulings, instituting them with
kindness, and setting an example through his own holy life. He
accomplished the changes despite a severe speech impediment. He
learned that "we are all weak, but if we want help, the Lord God has
given us the means to find it easily."

I ask him to pray for the shortcomings and impediments in our lives,
int the lives of those called especially to your service, in the lives
of the clergy, the bishops, the religious, and all discerning your
call, so that they will not interfere with the work You, dear Lord,
have called us to do. Saint Charles, pray for us. Amen.
